While many are looking forward to large phablet devices and increasingly complex touchscreen smartphones, Samsung has been working on a flip phone that looks strikingly similar to the older razors, but much more powerful. Their new phone, the Samsung W2014 Flip Phone, was just officially announced in China and Samsung is working with one of China’s leading service providers, China Telecom, to ensure that this phone will be a huge success.
The convenience and retro look of the flip phone may definitely cater to a large market, especially since these phones are a fraction of the size that the Galaxy Note smartphones are. But how does this new Samsung Flip Phone compare when you take it apart and examine the specs? Well, to be honest, surprisingly not bad.
Samsung W2014 flip phone has a AMOLED 3.7 inch display at the top portion, with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels (not too shabby for such a small screen). Additionally it has a regular touch numpad, and an attractive golden housing. There are two cameras available on this new Samsung Flip Phone. The rear camera is a more than adequate 13 megapixels, while it maintains a front camera for video chatting however that only has 2 megapixels.
Like the other new Samsung smartphones being released, Samsung W2014 will have the latest Android 4.4 Jelly Bean operating system. In addition, it will be powered by a powerful quad core Snapdragon 800 processor that runs at 2.3GHz and the phone maintains 2 gigs of RAM with a nice 32 gigs of built in storage as well.
Overall the specs on the phone are very impressive, especially for a smartphone with such a small screen. It is also said to have a dual SIM card slot, which just makes it even more desirable. Unfortunately no further details about the phone have been released, however there is a nasty rumor going about saying that this smart flip phone could be retailing at $1,640, but that has yet to be confirmed.
