Steps for Rooting of HTC Desire 500

The HTC Desire 500 is a dual sim Android smartphone that runs on Android 4.2.2 jelly bean operating system and is meant for users in the mid-range. Pre-requisites

  1. A laptop or PC with Windows.
  2. The device should have custom recovery installed by accessing the flashing custom recovery.
  3. HTC butterfly drivers will also have to be downloaded.
  4. USB debugging has to be enabled on your device.
  5. The battery of your device should have at least 75% residual charge.
  6. Arrange for data back up of your device.
  7. Download the required software CWM-SuperSU-v0.98.zip from an authentic site.

The process

Step 1  The device is to be connected to the computer

Step 2  Copy the appropriate software to the SD card of your device.

Step 3   Boot your device to recovery mode.

Step 4  Switch off your device, remove the battery and then put it back again.

Step 5  Press down the Power button together with the volume down button until a screen appears with options.

Step 6  With the help of the volume keys navigate to Recovery and use the power button to select your option.

Step 7  Select the option Install.zip from SD card and then reach to relevant software.

Step 8 The file is to be selected with the help of the power button and then to begin flashing the zip file, select yes

Step 9 As the flashing appears; reboot the system from the main menu.

Step 10 Unplug the USB cable as rooting is now complete. For confirmation, check with Root Checker Lite app or Super user app.
