The iconic Nokia 1100 feature-phone is coming back in new avatar as a smartphone. Nokia 1100 was first launched in 2003 as a feature phone and became incredibly popular. It is mostly known for it’s well built body, ruggedness and reliability. After losing most of it’s market to Samsung, Apple Nokia has finally decided to move to Android ecosystem. And what better option it has other than using one of it’s most popular model like Nokia 1100.
The legendary 1100 model has been spotted in popular benchmark site Geekbench. The phone is powered by 1.2GHz quad core processor, 512 MB RAM, and 720p display and latest Android 5.0 lollipop operating system. Nokia has shown interest in entering Android smartphone business in MWC. After selling it’s smartphone division to Microsoft, Nokia can’t enter to smartphone business right now, but it’s expected that Nokia will launch this smartphone in Q4 2016. Till then Nokia 1100 lovers will have to wait.
Though it’s now clear if Nokia will use the same name at the time of launch, but currently it looks like a kind of prototype. and as Nokia is currently barred from entering Smartphone business it is expected that Nokia will use latest hardware and software available at the time of launch.
Currently it’s just a rumor, and we can’t comment more than that. Last year Android based Nokia C1 was rumored, and later it turned to be a hoax. We have to wait until Nokia officially confirms the news of Nokia 1100, or some more details emerges.
