Entreat your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 with Android 4.4.2

The all new Android 4.4.2 KitKat, introduced recently by the efficient team OmniROM is nightly builds, designed exclusively for Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 and other android devices. The older version Samsung Galaxy S2 was terminated from further updates after the release of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, but the mobile users can enjoy the new feature with the device under the model number GT-I9100. They can update to the new Android 4.4.2 version by performing the following steps. Initially you need to install TWRP (6.0.4.4+) and CWM (6.0.4.4+) recovery custom firmware. Before updating check the following requirements in your devices-

  1. USB Drivers should be installed for transferring from the PC
  2. USB Debugging mode need to be enabled on your Samsung Galaxy by pressing Menu>>settings>>Applications. And choose USB Debugging mode in the Development options.
  3.  Safeguard your data and files by creating backup options with  TWRP or ClockworkMod recovery
  4. Keep your Samsung Galaxy S2 mobile is fully charged
  5. Remember that Android 4.4.2 works with only Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 and it might brick other devices. Therefore verify your model before installationSteps to install Android 4.4.2 KitKat in your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100

    1)      Transfer the zip that has been downloaded by connecting the computer to your Galaxy S2. Never unzip or extract the files

    2)      Switch off your mobile after disconnecting it from the computer

    3)      Now place your Galaxy S2 in the CWM/TWRP recovery mode by pressing together the Power, Volume UP and DOWN buttons. Use the Power button for selecting an option and the Volume buttons for navigating in the recovery mode

    4)      Nandroid backup of the current ROM should be created

    5)      Once the backup process is completed Factory Reset should be performed for deleting from the system partition entire data while safeguarding the storage

    For CWM recovery- you should first press wipe data/factory reset options

    TWRP recovery- Select Wipe first and then swipe to apply Factory Reset

    6)      Install the OmniROM by pressing on the install zip from sdcard options in the CWM recovery and click on the Android 4.4.2 OmniROM file for installation and install the new ROM by selecting Install option in the TWRP recovery

    7)      Next flash the Gapps file by repeating the procedures similar to the installation of  ROM

    8)      Once you complete the installation procedures reboot your Galaxy 2 by going back to the main recovery menu. Now your device is booted in to the OmniROM. The booting process will take around five minutes in the Samsung boot animation screen, therefore wait patiently for the entire files are loaded and reboots the home screen

    Once the files are loaded synch those to your Google account. Update Galaxy S2 with the OmniROM that features Android 4.4.2 and verify the installation of this software by clicking on the settings>> about phone options. Use SuperSU file through custom recovery mode if your device loses root after installation.
